(B) LEAD IN WATER

* SOURCES :
 Water stored in tanks painted with lead-base paint.
 Plumbo-solvency i.e. the solvent action of soft water

on lead pipes.

 SIGNIFICANCE :
 Lead is a serious poison, it accumulates in the bone

structure and may cause brain damage and death.
 Maximum allowed limit in drinking water 0.1 mg/L.
