Large volume bottles (infusion)

Flexible plastic containers Rigid plastic containers

Example: polyvinyl chloride (PVC) Example: polyethylene (PE)
                                                                        More compatible
Adsorb some drugs (nitroglycerine)
Advantage: No need for air tube (Why??), so no Needs aeration for solution drainage
contamination (contamination)

Solutions drain out by gravity due to bag
flexibility)

Containers requirements:

Containers for parenteral preparations should be made from material that are sufficiently
transparent to allow the content to be visually inspected for patients.

Must not interact physically or chemically with the preparation (drug or excipients)

Robust enough to withstand the chosen sterilization process.

Effectively sealed to prevent the enclosed medicine becoming contaminated with micro-
organisms or other contaminants during storage.
Dry powders are packed in containers large enough to permit proper shaking with the liquid
    component during reconstitution.
