Stimulant laxative but it causes gripping effect.
Antiseptic and antibacterial.
Preparations of Aloes:
-Tincture benzoin co: mixture of Benzoin, Aloes, Storax and Tolu balsam.
Uses as antimicrobial for respiratory disorders.
-Aloe grande: Aloes, vitamin A, vitamin E.
Used as antibacterial for skin, role of vitamin E is antioxidant.
-Aloin, Belladonna, Anise used as stimulant laxative, belladonna is used as
antispasmodic and Anise as carminative.
Aloe gel:
Preparation: after extraction of the juice, the leaves are squeezed to obtain the gel.
Alternatively, by separation the gel layers (deprived of the vascular bundles) and
squeeze it.
Constituents:
-polysaccharide composed of mannose, galactose, glucose and arabinose.
-Acemannan: a highly acetylated mannan polysaccharide.
-A protease inhibitor bradykininase.
- prostanoids.
Uses:
-Topically: largely used in cosmetics as moisturizing and revitalizing.
Increase wound healing for burn, so incorporated in sunscreens.
-Internally: the diluted gel soothes gastric ulcer.
- Acemannan has antiviral and cytotoxic actions.
