B- Amylopectin (80-90%)
 It consists of a 1000 or more glucose units connected also with α-1,4-linkages with

a number of α-1,6-links at branch points these links represent about 4% of the total
linkages. (or I for approximately every 25 glucose units).
 It is hot water-insoluble and gives with iodine a red-violet or purple colour.
Uses:
1- In tablets and powders manufacture.
2- As an absorbent in starch pastes.
3- As an emollient in the form of a glycerite.
4- Starch suspension may be used as an antidote for iodine poisoning.
5- Starting material for the preparation of liquid glucose, dextrose, maltose and
    dextrins.

Dextrin

 Dextrin is a polymer of α- D- glucopyranose.
 It is obtained by the enzymatic hydrolysis of starch by diastase enzyme.

               Starch Diastase→ Dextrins

Uses:
1- As a source of readily digestible carbohydrate for infants and adults invalids.

Dextran

 Dextran is a large, water-soluble polymer of glucose.
