Some Synthetic Glucose Derivatives

 In contrast to the above classes, there are a relatively small number of synthetic
    carbohydrate drugs.

 Aurothioglucose and a Auranofin are two examples of gold derivatives of glucose.

1- Aurothioglucose

 It is known chemically as 1-β- D-glucosylthio gold.
Uses: Treatment of rheumatic arthritis (I.M.).

2- Auranofin

It is an alkyl phosphine gold coordination complex with peracetylated thioglucose.
Uses:
 Treatment of rheumatic arthritis; dose 3.0 mg orally, twice daily.
