CLASS INSTRUCTION:

            We encourage you to find a routine that works best for your classroom. Provided below is an
            outline for your consideration. Please note that materials will need to be arranged prior to each
            class.



            CLASS FORMAT:


            I.  NAME TAGS: Upon entry to the classroom, students find their name tags and take a seat
                in a semi-circle.


            II. STRETCH: In order to refresh students after assembly and have them excited for class,
                you can lead stretches which may include animal poses or actions relating to the akhar of
                the day (eg sap (snake), suuraj (sun), sher (lion) etc.) You may want to incorporate sounds
                too and use this as an opportunity to introduce students to the akhar they are about to
                learn in a fun & engaging way.

            III. INTRODUCTORY CIRCLE TIME (see next page for an in-depth explanation):
               -   Greet class with Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. WJKK, WJKF song,
                   Sat Sri Akal Song;
               -   Ask children to share something from assembly that they learned or liked;
               -   Review akhars learned in previous lessons;
               -   Introduce akhar, color of the day and review worksheets to be     

                   completed for the day;
               -   Introduce craft and how it relates to concepts being learned that day; and
               -   Conclude circle time with sequence of things the children must do once they      

                   adjourn to smaller groups.


            IV. TABLE TIME (in smaller groups if your class size is large):
               -   Begin with Sat Sri Akal song, greet each student by name;
               -   Review and share homework with the group. Great opportunity to encourage kids to
                   review and use vocabulary from the previous session;
               -   Review worksheets that were discussed in circle time, work on them as a group;
               -   Work on craft as a group. Each lesson is accompanied by a craft; and
               -   Cleanup workstation, return all materials to teachers.  



            V. 2nd CIRCLE TIME (see following pages for in-depth explanation):
               -   All students come together for a class-wide circle time;
               -   Review all material covered in class;
               -   Ask children to share what they made and encourage discussion in Punjabi;
               -   As per schedule, continue with either sakhi time, shabad prep, field trip or    

                   story time; and
               -   Conclude with Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
