Shopping

If the shops of Quinta Shopping and Bougainvillea
Plaza are not enough for you, there are now a
number of shopping centres in the Algarve.

In Faro, passed the turning to the airport is the
Forum Algarve with plenty of shops and lots of
places to eat. It also has a multiplex cinema
complex, see below. Towards Albufeira, just outside
Guia, is the Algarve Shopping centre. Many of the
same shops as the Forum Algarve but a bit bigger.
The latest and largest centre to open is the MAR Centre near Loule.

Markets

There is a street market on most Sunday’s in Figueiral, a suburb of Almancil

Loule, just inland from Quinta do Lago, has a
famous covered market, especially good for fish,
fruit and vegetables, which opens every day except
Sunday. On Saturday the market extends into the
surrounding street and includes a popular craft
market.

The other market worth visiting on Wednesday is in
Quarteira.

Cinemas

There are now cinemas at the Forum Algarve, the MAR centre and at Algarve Shopping
Guia (which also has ten-pin bowling). All have the latest releases, some ahead of the
UK, most are in English with Portuguese sub-titles. Children's films, particularly cartoons
are usually dubbed.

Outings for Children

Zoomarine at Guia, is a water park just the other
side of Albufeira. It has great dolphin, seal and
sea-lion shows, you can also see turtles, sharks,
crocodiles and tropical fish. If you are over l0yrs
you can arrange to swim with the dolphins.
Admission to the park is free for under 5's.

Crazy World Zoo is between Algoz and Messines
and is a fun day out. It started as a couple of
crazy golf courses, which are still there, but has expanded into much more. It has
recently started making a name for itself rescuing large snakes and other reptiles that
are on show to the public. There is also an animal park where you can touch and feed the
animals, a fairground, paintball and more.
