 Psyllium gum extracted from the seed coat

 Consisting of a neutral arabinoxylan with (1 → 4) and (1 → 3) xylopyranose backbones

 The polysaccharides possess protecting against pneumococcal infection in mice.

 The water extract suppress the humoral immune responses, especially in primary immune response.
