Pectins
Pectin is a polymer with linear structure in
which few hundred to thousand galacturonic
acid monomer units are linked via α-(1→4)-
glycosidic bond forming a backbone.
Side chains of rhamnose, arabinans,
galactans, and xylose.
High molecular-weight carbohydrate
polymer
Not digested in small intestine but
digested to a small extent by bacteria
flora of the large intestine.
