In the remodel, we’ll convert
the existing R-19 vented attic
to a non-vented attic, with
R-49 closed-cell foam, plus a
layer of 1-inch Thermax on
top of the roof deck.
Dark secrets. Upstairs, “cool” air coming
out of ceiling vents sometimes hits the
living space at 76 degrees, when it should
be closer to 55 degrees. Note the
overheating attic access panel at the far
end of the hall.
