Introduction
The course Parasitology and Virology (PM 312) is the second course in
Microbiology department that will be studied in third level
The first part is parasitology. This part will provide the students with an
introduction to the field of medical parasitology. It focuses on the
parasitological terms, types of parasites, habitats, hosts and different life cycles.
It also includes the sources of infection, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations,
methods of diagnosis, prevention and control.
The second part is virology is the scientific discipline concerned with the study
of the biology of viruses and viral diseases, including the distribution,
transmission, clinical aspects of viruses. Moreover, the methods of diagnosis,
prevention and control will be studied.
