2-Enterobius vermicularis
1- Adults:
-Adult male measures up to 2.5 mm long by
0.1-0.2 mm wide. It has a blunt posterior
end with a single spicule
- Adult female measure 8-13 mm long by
0.3-0.5 mm wide. It possess a long pointed
tail.
2- Egg:
a- D-shaped (plano-convex).
a- Size: 50X25 u.
b- Shell: double-walled.
c- Translucent.
d- It contains fully developed larva.
Definitive host - Only man.
Infective stage - Fully embryonated eggs containing fully developed
larvae
Mode of infection - Ingestion of eggs through contaminated food and drink .
- Autoinfection
- Retro-infection
- Air- borne infection
- Contact with patients (Direct hand to hand or indirect
contact by handling contaminated articles as clothes, bed
linens)
Diagnostic stage - Eggs
Site of localization - Adult worm live in large intestine
