The Voluptuous

                                                                       Bride Guide

                                                                             By Danielle Springer

Don't Be Intimidated By The Number: Bridal sizing is different that regular
clothing sizing. So if you are normally a size 10 you will require a minimum of
one to two sizes higher for your wedding dress. So a size 10 in other clothing
can easily be a size 14 in a wedding dress, so don't let the size upset you. What
is most important is how the dress looks and feels and that you feel your most
         beautiful on your wedding day.
Don’t Settle: Just because you are not a size 6, does not mean you need to
settle when choosing the perfect dress for your special day. Don’t be afraid to
visit numerous bridal stores and (if necessary) don’t feel bad about walking out
without making a purchase. Not only do you have to fall in love with your dress,
it has to make you feel like a queen. Don’t merely pick a dress because it is the
only one that fits: Know that you have options when shopping for your gown and
one of those options must be to never compromise.
Do Not Let a Bridal Store Tell You That Your Only Choice is to Order: You
need to find the right store that will allow you to try on as many dresses as you
want. Since most stores only stock small sizes, trying on a dress which may
be 4 or 5 sizes smaller than you wear will give you absolutely no idea what the
dress will actually look like when you get it in your correct size. Most stores,
however, will undoubtedly suggest that you order the dress that you like most,
in spite of the fact that you have never actually seen it properly fit. Beware of
stores who follow this practice, and shop at bridal boutiques that cater specifi- San Diego
cally to larger sizes because you should never feel bad about not being a size Woman
other than your own. Keep in mind, in conventional shops, if you order a dress
and don’t like it upon arrival, you cannot return it.
Buying Off-The-Rack is a Good Thing: The typical wait time when ordering a
bridal gown from a traditional bridal store is 3-5 months. So once you find that 27
perfect dress, you have some time to worry about what it will actually look like
when it arrives in your size. Will it be as pretty as you remembered when you
tried it on 5 months ago? Will it arrive on time? What if it arrives in the wrong
color or size, and has to be reordered? With an off-the-rack dress, you have it
in your hands when you leave, and all you need to worry about is final fittings for
your special day. When you consider that the wedding design is often planned
around the look of the dress, having the dress in hand allows you to immediately
work on the rest of the details and lowers the stress involved in getting all of the
details completed on time. Another plus to off-the-rack dresses is the amaz-
ing price. Off-the-rack, being more affordable, gives you the ability to put more
money towards the many unexpected big day expenses.
Do not Feel like You Always Have to Cover Your Arms: Many brides will feel
pressured to cover their arms when selecting a wedding dress. In reality, this
doesn’t make you look slimmer, but instead, draws more attention to a body part
that you may feel self-conscious about. So when you are picking out your wed-
ding dress, pick the dress you fall in love with and don’t select the gown based
on the amount of fabric around your arms. It is more than okay to feel comfort-
able in your own skin, without all that pesky fabric!
