                         To become an insightful tour guide, of course we have to remember




                         local wisdom in an area or city, such as local food in that area, how




                         the process is  made, what ingredients are used, and so on.  This




                         chapter  will  provide  information  on  how  to  explain  to  foreign




                         tourists about local food from an area






                            4 Typical Palembang Cuisine








                         1. Pempek




                                   The basic ingredients used to make pempek are fish. At first the




                              fish used was belida fish. In its development, this fish is




                              experiencing scarcity so that besides being expensive it is also




                              hard to come by. This situation makes people switch to fish which



                              is cheaper and easier to obtain. Along with the development of




                              knowledge and the development of community demand for




                              pempek, the community began to vary the types of pempek




                              according to demand. People are getting more creative with raw




                              materials that are very easy to get. Until now pempek has many



                              types with different flavors.
