Panggang (tunu), and 10) Pempek Lenggang. Pempek is eaten with
gravy or liquid sauce which the people of Palembang call 'cuko'.
Cuko is made from a mixture of brown sugar/coconut sugar,
tamarind, garlic and cayenne pepper. There are also those who add
white vinegar to add a sense of security. Cuko is made by boiling.
Good cuko has a strong aroma, thickness, spicy, sour and salty
taste just right.
2. Tekwan
Palembang is also famous for its tekwan as a special food.
Tekwan, which is also often referred to as Palembang's meatball,
is made using spices that are almost the same as pempek. So if
you like pempek, you will definitely like tekwan too.
Tekwan is served with a savory and delicious shrimp broth. The
shape of the tekwan dough is small, similar to fish balls. Beside
being served with shrimp broth, the tekwan is also served with
fried onions, celery, green onions, pieces of yam, vermicelli, and
delicious ear mushrooms.
