Clinically Isolated Syndrome (CIS)
A first episode of neurologic symptoms that lasts at least 24 hours and is caused by
inflammation and demyelination in one or more sites in the central nervous system (CNS).
Individuals who experience a CIS may or may not go on to develop MS.
Close Out Visit (COV)
The last monitoring visit conducted by the Clinical Research Associate at an investigational
site after all patient visits have been completed and all trial data has been entered &
verified.
Closed Period
A period in which the financial books are closed and no more entries are allowed; Last
Closed Period is the most current closed month.
Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
Codification of the general & permanent rules published in the Federal Register that
represent broad areas subject to federal regulation.
College of American Pathologists (CAP)
Association composed of board-certified pathologists. They inspect and accredit medical
laboratories to improve patient safety and ensure laboratories meet or exceed regulation
requirements.
Commercial Contribution
Affiliate, Region, and Global Commercial Contribution is calculated as Revenues, less Cost of
Goods Sold and Operating Expenses for Commercial and Affiliate Medical Affairs functions.
This is a key performance indicator for the Global Business Operations organization.
Common Stock
Securities representing equity ownership in a corporation, providing voting rights, and
entitling the holder to a share of the company's success.
Community Relations Manager (CoRe)
Hemophilia field employee dedicated to understanding and serving the needs the
hemophilia community.
