Mie Prefecture has traditionally been a link between C h
east and west Japan. With 65% of the prefecture a

consisting of forests, Mie has long been associated t
with forestry, as well as tea, beef, cultured pearls, e r
fruit (mainly mandarin oranges), and the seafood in-
dustries. Northern Mie is home to a number of man-
ufacturing industries, mainly transport machinery
manufacturing.
Customs and Heritage:
-Iga-Ueno- Birthplace of the ninja.
-Ise Grand Shrine- Japan's holiest Shinto shrine.
-Kumano Kodo- Ancient road in southern Mie once
used by pilgrims.
-Saiku- Site of Heian Imperial residence.
-Sakakibara Onsen- Famous onsen near Tsu. Ru-
mored to be the 3rd best onsen in Japan.
Kansai (Southeastern Honshu)
-Wedded Rocks of Okitama Shrine in Futami.
The Kansai region (or the Kinki region) lies in
the southern-central region of Japan's main island, -Yunoyama Onsen- Famous onsen near Yokkaichi
Honshu. that sits atop Mount Gozaisho.
The region includes the prefectures of: Mie, Nara, Cuisine: N/A
Wakayama, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, and Shiga.
