+ Introduction
In English, instead of repeating the same nouns or noun phrases, we use reference words.
This helps the passage to read better and to flow more smoothly. Pronouns such as it, they,
and those are among the most often used reference words.
Reference questions test your ability to figure out what the pronouns, noun phrases, or
other reference words refer to in the passage. There are 0 – 2 reference questions for each
passage. Each question is worth 1 point.
