Keeping the City Green and Clean
How many trees are there in your neighborhood? In some cities, there are
almost no trees. This is a big problem. Not only does it make the city less beautiful,
★
3 but it also makes the air worse. We need trees because they produce oxygen . Cities
with too few trees have very bad air.
To fix this problem, many cities are now making green zones. The green zones
6 are like giant parks. No new roads or buildings can be built in them. Usually the
green zones are just outside of the city. This causes another problem; cities need
room to grow, but they cannot spread into the green zones. Finding the correct
9 balance between allowing a city to grow and keeping enough trees is very difficult.
