SHELTAIR OPENS NEW HANGAR COMPLEX AT TPA
Tampa International Airport (TPA) officials joined Sheltair on Sept. 21 at the grand opening of four new hangars at the fixed base operation’s facility in Tampa.
“Elite Air has had a wonderful working relationship with Sheltair at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport and TPA for many years,” Elite Air CEO Gray Gibbs said. “We wish them the best in introducing this new hangar space, another boon to the local aircraft storage supply in addition to our new hangar facility at PIE. We certainly believe the rising private aviation tide lifts all boats—or, in this case, aircraft.”
The $26 million project adds another 77,000 square feet of hangar space and 32,000 square feet of office space to Sheltair’s TPA location, which is open 24 hours a day. The construction project also included adding a 336,208-square-foot apron. It took 18 months to build the new additions to the 35-acre complex, including its

covered and uncovered parking. Sheltair’s footprint at TPA now totals 300,557 square feet.
“What an incredible investment this is for our airport and our community, and I think it really is reflective of the service and the standard that Sheltair brings to our Airport every single day,” TPA Director of General Avia- tion Brett Fay said.
The Sheltair complex can accommodate a diverse range of aircraft, including large-cabin class jets, like the G650 or Global 7500. The hangars further feature a foam fire suppression system.
“We are excited to be opening these new hangars at TPA,” said Lisa Holland, Sheltair’s CEO and president. “These sleek, state-of-the-art facilities are a gamechang- er, not just for addressing the soaring demand in aircraft storage at TPA, but also for fueling fresh economic growth in the airport’s vibrant community.”
Sheltair now covers 300,557 square feet at Tampa Interna- tional Airport.
