Unit (1) – Phonics

                                                  Syllables

                                                    Parent’s Guide

A syllable is a word part with one vowel sound. Some

words have more than one syllable. When syllables end in a
consonant and have a short vowel sound, they are called

                  “closed syllables”.

                                                   The Rabbit Rule

How do you know where to split the word/syllable?

When a word has two (or more) consonants between the

vowels, split the word between the consonant.

                  Example:

rabbit = rab • bit inside = in • side
