Unit (6) – Phonics

                                  Floss Letters “ff, ll, ss”

When “f, l, s” is heard after a short vowel at the end of

a one syllable word, it is spelled with a double “ff, ss, ll”.

What a sunny day! Bill and Jeff went outside. They could

see the grass was wet. There was a chill as they ran to the

cliff. They were at a loss of how to get down from the big cliff.

Could they drop a rope? Should they try to yell for help or try

to jump off ? They did look down and saw the water. They

want to swim in the waves. They decided to jump off. No more

fuss! Just huff and puff down the side of the cliff. Finally, Bill

and Jeff were down. They did toss a ball into the waves. What

a way to pass the day!

Circle all the “ff, ll, ss” words. Then, write them down.

                   “ ff ” Words “ ll ” Words “ ss ” Words
