perishing. To the one we are the smell of death [the one who
leads people to hell ]; to the other, the fragrance of life[the one
who leads people to paradise]... (2 Corinthians, 2:14-16)

I thank God, Who put into the heart of Titus the same concern
I have for you. For Titus not only welcomed our appeal, but he
is coming to you with much enthusiasm and on his own initia-
tive. (2 Corinthians, 8:16-17)

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and
thanksgiving be made [to God] for everyone—for kings and all
those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in
all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy, 2:1-2)
