Pleasant Words from the Gospel






                   Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does,
                   whether he is slave or free. (Ephesians, 6:7-8)


                           
                   [Jesus:]  "Whoever serves me [for God's good pleasure] must
                   follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. God will
                   honor the one who serves me." (John, 12:26)

                   Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve oth-
                   ers, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
                   If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very
                   words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the
                   strength God provides, so that in all things God may be
                   praised... (1 Peter, 4:10-11)

                   Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them;

                   and those who exercise authority over them call themselves
                               
                   benefactors.  But you are not to be like that. Instead, the great-
                   est among you should be like the youngest, and the one who
                   rules like the one who serves." (Luke, 22:25-26)

                   This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs
                   of God's people [those who devote themselves to God] but is
