Pleasant Words from the Gospel
Jesus..." returned from the Jordan... He ate nothing during those
days, and at the end of them he was hungry. (Luke, 4:1-2)
Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the jour-
ney, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. When a
Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will
you give me a drink?" (John, 4:6-7)
Jesus replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the
bowl with me will betray me. (Matthew, 26:23)
While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax col-
lectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples,
for there were many who followed him. (Mark, 2:15)
Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with
him, so he went to the Pharisee's house and reclined at the
table. (Luke, 7:36)
While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of
a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came... (Mark,
14:3)
While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, "I tell
you the truth, one of you will betray me—one who is eating
with me." (Mark, 14:18)
"It is one of the Twelve," he replied, "one who dips bread into
the bowl with me." (Mark, 14:20)
Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a
large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.
