They Only Abide by Religion
Superficially and Do Not Truly Believe

Woe to you... you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your
spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected
the more important matters of the law [God's command-
ments]—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have
done these things without neglecting the others. You blind
guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

(Matthew, 23:23-24)

Woe to you... you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the
cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-in-
dulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the
cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
(Matthew, 23:25-26)

Woe to you... because you give... a tenth of your mint, rue
and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect jus-
tice and the love of God. These are the things you should
have done without neglecting the others. (Luke, 11:42)

you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people!
