70 L LOVE IN THE TORAH
GOD LOVES THOSE WHO HAVE
MERCY
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him
water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and
the Lord will reward you. (Proverbs, 25:21-22)
Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but
fear your God. I am the Lord. (Leviticus, 19:14)
Stand up in the presence of the elderly, and show respect for the aged. Fear
your God. I am the Lord. (Leviticus, 19:32)
He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.
(Proverbs, 14:21)
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoev-
er is kind to the needy honors God. (Proverbs, 14:31)
