grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” The Levites calmed all the
people, saying, “Be still, for this is a holy day. Do not grieve.” Then all the
people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to cele-
brate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been
made known to them. (Nehemiah, 8:10-12)
A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spir-
it. (Proverbs, 15:13)
…In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your
strength…(Isaiah, 30:15)
Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah, 8:10)
Do not fret because of those who are evil… Be still before the Lord and
wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when
they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from
wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. (Psalm, 37:1,7-8)
Do not fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked, for the evil-
doer has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.
