84 L LOVE IN THE TORAH
BELIEVERS OVERCOME THEIR ANGER
THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES
AND NEVER ABANDON
THE PATH OF LOVE
Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap
of fools. (Ecclesiastes, 7:9)
Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tem-
pered displays folly. (Proverbs, 14:29)
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a
good name in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs, 3:3-4)
A quick-tempered person does foolish things… (Proverbs,
14:17)
If a ruler’s anger rises against you, do not leave your post;
calmness can lay great offenses to rest. (Ecclesiastes, 10:4)
A gift given in secret soothes anger… (Proverbs, 21:14)
Mockers stir up a city, but the wise turn away anger. If a
wise person goes to court with a fool, the fool rages and scoffs,
and there is no peace. (Proverbs, 29:8-9)
