Everyone knows that
there is a stratum boiling at
very high temperatures right
beneath the earth's surface, but few
people think much about it. This is
because their parents, brothers, relatives,
friends, neighbors, the journalists of the
newspapers they read, TV program producers
As seen in the above picture, beneath the earth's crust lies
the magma stratum. As a result of the movement of subsur-
face layers, magma drills through the earth's crust caus-
ing volcanic eruptions. The lava gushing out of the
volcano of Mount Etna in Italy, which erupt-
ed in 1992, looks like a "river of fire"
