But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest,
whose waves cast up mire and mud. "There is no peace," says
my God, "for the wicked." (Isaiah, 57:20-21)
He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wic-
kedness; the Lord our God will destroy them. (Psalms, 94:23)
Paradise
(The references to the everlasting life and land of the
living in the Torah are used in the sense of paradise.)
... Some to ev er last ing life, oth ers to shame and ev er last ing
con tempt. Those who are wise will shine like the bright ness
of the heav ens, and those who lead many to right eous ness,
like the stars for ev er and ev er. (Daniel, 12:2-3)
The path of life [paradise] leads up ward for the wise to keep
him from go ing down to the grave [hell]. (Proverbs, 15:24)
I am still con fi dent of this: I will see the good ness of the
Lord in the land of the liv ing [paradise]. (Psalms, 27:13)
That I may walk be fore the Lord in the land of the liv -
ing [paradise]. (Psalms, 116:9)
... Then man goes to his eter nal home [paradise]... and the
dust re turns to the ground it came from, and the spir it re turns
to God Who gave it. (Ecclesiastes, 12:5, 7)
He who walks right eous ly and speaks what is right, who re -
jects gain from ex tor tion and keeps his hand from ac cept ing
bribes, who stops his ears against plots of mur der and shuts
