people, for they choose this animal-like life by refusing to exercise
their conscience and think. The Qur’an describes them in the follow-
ing terms:
The likeness of those who are unbelievers is that of some-
one who yells out to something that cannot hear—it is noth-
ing but a cry and a call. Deaf, dumb, and blind. They do not
use their intellect. (Surat al-Baqara, 2:171)
