TYING INSTRUCTIONS
1.Tie three different color cords together into a
round brocade knot with 64 outer loops.Wrap every
fourth loop. Use the yellow cord to tie the outer
circle. (A large quantity of yellow cord is needed.)
2. Break the yellow outer loop. Note that the break-
ing point is not at the center. If the breaking point of
the first lotus petal is left short and the right longer
(so short that it can be hidden inside the knot body),
then the breaking point of the second petal should
be left short and the right long.Tie the longer cord
ends from both petals from inside out into a double
connection knot. Pull the cord ends at the back to-
wards the left and right, and tie each cord end with
that from a neighboring cord from inside out into
a double connection knot until the whole knot
formation is completed.
This design is tied using the knotting
34 technique of a shiftweave pan chang knot
sharing an outer loop with a cloverleaf knot with
two outer loops. The main central knot is the
shiftweave pan chang knot. The outer circle is
formed by tying double connection knots using
the technique of ear loop sharing, to create a
square formation. The entire knot formation looks
like a leaf of the pyrus plant. The design can be
tightened into different shapes according to
one’s fancy.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Use both cord ends to start tying from the cen-
tral major cloverleaf knot.Tie a 180-degree shift-
weave one up, one down type of pan chang knot
and pull the cord away from the central knot.
2. In the center of the four sides of the pan chang
knot, tie a side knot composed of four cloverleaf
knots with two outer loops by the loop-sharing
technique.Tie a cloverleaf knot with three outer
loops on the join of two of these cloverleaf knots,
and also, during this process, tie with neighboring
outer loops into a double coin knot.
