Type 1 Compound Constellation Knot
When a constellation knot is tied with multiple outer loops, the same problem occurs
as with the round brocade knot with multiple outer loops, i.e. the more outer loops
there are, the bigger the central hole. The remedy, besides wrapping a larger number
of ear loops every time, includes extending the ear loops as well as increasing the
number of pulls and wraps, as recommended for the various compound cloverleaf
knots and compound round brocade knots.
The Type 1 Compound constellation knot is formed using the one loop, one wrap
technique to tie five outer loops.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Make ear loop 1. Step 2. Make ear loop 2 and wrap around 1. Step 3. Make ear
loop 3, pull through 1 and wrap around 2 and 1. Step 4.Make ear loop 4, wrap around
1, pull through 2, wrap around 3, pull through 1 and wrap around 2. Step 5. Make ear
loop 5, pull through 1, wrap around 2, pull through 3, wrap around 4 and 1, pull
through 2 and wrap around 3. Step 6. Make ear loop 6, pull through 2, wrap around
3, pull through 4, wrap around 5, pull through 1, wrap around 2, pull through 3 and
wrap around 4.
Use the formula application on page 74 to tie a compound constellation knot with
multiple outer loops.
HINT
Since there are many pulls and wraps involved here, it is quite difficult to tighten and
adjust the knot. Make sure you adjust each ear loop to the same curvature for opti-
mal aesthetic effect.
