can convey, with conflicts in Africa, the Balkans, Russia, the
Middle East, Greece and Italy.
We have identified 183 Kings Cliffe Men who served in WW1
out of an estimated total of 220. Forty eight of these died as
a result of the war, plus one served in World War 1 and died
in World War Two. We also have one man reported dead, who
didn’t die!
The Stamford & Rutland news of 15th May 1918 reported:- Kings
Cliffe - Roll of the Brave- The list of village patriots now numbers
203, of whom twenty-two have made the supreme sacrifice.
There are at least 37 other men from Kings Cliffe who may
have served in WW1 but either no military record can be found,
or more frequently there are many records and a particular
individual cannot be identified from amongst them. Amongst
these men are:-
