LE Ebenezer (Jack)

Born 1894 in Abbotsley, Hunts, Jack was the son of Ebenezer and
Annie Beale of Kings Cliffe.
According to the 1911 census, his mother was born in Brooklyn, USA.
The 1st Northants and the 12th Suffolks were involved in some
of the fiercest fighting in the war but, without knowing when he
transferred, it is not possible to
know the battles in which he
was involved. He survived the
war and received the Victory
Medal.
In 1934 he married Bessie
Compton in Oundle and his
death was registered there in
1958.

Born 1888 in Bombay, India,
Edward was the son of
Ebenezer and Annie Beale of
The Butts, Kings Cliffe.
The 8th Battalion was a New
Army battalion raised on
13th September 1914. After
receiving uniforms, weapons
and training, they arrived in
France on 7th September
1915.
Their first experience of war
was appalling. After a long
forced march they were
