SEND
We also have a significant proportion of SEND pupils at both schools. In
20-21, this was 27% for Wykham Park and 26% for Futures Institute.
The provision for SEND pupils is the responsibility of every teacher on our
campus. We know our students best and must ensure they can access the
work we set for them (remember our equality of opportunity through the
curriculum) so they can achieve in line with their non-SEND peers.
SEND pupils are supported by Justine Williams and her team (in the
Capella – upstairs in Science). Students may be in a nurture group, with
our nurture practitioners, Emma Daisley and Katie Lambert or they may
be in an SEMH group run by our HLTA, Ebony Arogundade. They may have
additional EAL sessions run by Lizzie Keys and Bev Pendery and a small
few may be supported in lessons by our LSAs. The Capella team will be on
hand to offer advice or support where they can, but we, supported by our
curriculum teams, must ensure we are scaffolding work appropriately for
students in our classes.
