PSHCEE and mentor time
This stands for personal, social, health, citizenship and economic
education and is led by Carine Foster. It is a vital part of our wider
curriculum and supports students to become well-rounded members of
the communities they belong to. Our personal development curriculum is
designed in a spiral way so that students revisit topics yearly and deepen
their knowledge as they get older. The PD (personal development)
programme is delivered in mentor time and through drop-down sessions.
We have calendared sessions during each half-term, 1 lesson per day
becomes a drop-down session where mentors will deliver the session to
their mentor groups.
More information, including our journeys for each facet of PSHCEE can be
found on our website here.
Mentor time
We have a strong mentor-time programme in place which balances
students’ pastoral needs with rigorous academic learning during this time.
Our programme covers current affairs/individual discussions about
behaviour/attendance, maths, reading, PSCHEE and assembly. These
sessions are fully planned and resourced and you’ll be given more detail
from your HoC and Martyn Stowe, our Director of Social Development.
