Key colleagues

These are some of the people who will be important as you settle into your
          role with us.

Head of Department – our curriculum leaders are the powerhouse of the

school. They speak for and represent their teams as well as driving

standards in teaching and expectations in their areas. In your teams, you’ll
have regular department meetings where you’ll receive subject-specific

CPD and be able to discuss issues pertinent to your subject. Your Head of

Department will be a visible presence in your area, dropping into lessons,

speaking to students and supporting their teams.

Head of College – pastorally, we work in colleges with each college having
two mentor groups in each of years 7-10 (year 11 are mentored separately

by a maths, English and science team). Your role as a mentor is vital in

ensuring a sense of belonging for our students and that the tone of their

day begins on the right note. Your Head of College will be a member of SLT
and they are supported by two coordinators – behaviour and attendance –

who are often from the curriculum leaders’ team. This team will ensure

you are kept up-to-date with any pastoral issues from students in your
college and equally, you will support them by keeping in touch with the

parents of students in your mentor group. If any students are placed on

college report, you will also be their first port of call.

Buddy – every new member of staff will have a buddy who will often be a

member of their department or faculty team. They will work through our
induction checklist with you and will also be able to answer any questions

          you might have.

Reception – At Wykham, Diane Grant, our receptionist, is a vital part of

our school. She can be reached on ext. 123 and on:
