Continuing North from Peterborough to Lincoln
Peterborough to Lincoln on the A15 is 51.5 mi, about 1hr 25 min.
Find your way to the A15 and stay on it to Lincoln.
If you decided to miss Peterborough and the cathedral remain on the Frank Perkins Parkway and
the A15.
6.1 mi 52.6070, -0.2334 At Junction of the A15 and the A47. Stay on the A15 to Lincoln.
At Folkingham watch for the road taking a right hand turn.
At Sleaford, 33 miles from Peterborough, there’s a market held in the Market Place (now that’s a
surprise. Not!) on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays. They’ve been holding a market there since
the 12 century!. 32.9 mi from Peterborough at the r/bout take the 3rd exit on to Grantham Rd, the
B1517.
Otherwise remain on the A15. On the north west edge of the town you’ll go str. thru the r/bout at
the junction with the A17.
47 km from Peterborough you will pass RAF Waddington, a military airfield with a history going
back 100 years to the era of the Royal Flying Corps in World War 1. In World War 2 it was a
major base for Bomber Command and in the Cold War era hosted the giant Avro Vulcan nuclear
armed bombers. One of them still stands guard at the main gate.
Remain on the A15 and follow it right into the heart of Lincoln and out the other side. As you drive
through the city you’ll see the cathedral on the hill above you. Through the city you will be
following signs to Scunthorpe / Humber Bridge / A15.
As you follow the A15 around the city you’ll see signs to cathedral parking.
51.4 mi 53.2353, -0.5293 Turn left on to Greetwellgate. There is parking along on the right. Follow
Greetwellgate on to Eastgate for the cathedral precinct.

The easiest way to get out of town is to find your way to Riseholme Rd, the B1226. It heads due
north out of the city to link with the A15 north. Or find the A46 and make your way around to the
junction with the A15.
0.0 mi 53.2542, -0.5388 at Riseholme Roundabout, at the i/s of the A46 / A15 / B1226.
Take the A15 north. In so doing you are following the line of Ermine St, the great London to York
road built by the Romans.
You’ll note along the way that the road takes a wide bight around RAF Scampton, home of the
famous RAF Red Arrows aerobatic team. You might just get lucky enough to watch them at work.
