0.4 mi 53.2008, -1.0272 at the next r/bout take the 3rd exit on to Ollerton Rd, the A6075.There’s a
        brown and white sign “Sherwood Forest Visitors’ Centre / Major Oak”.


        Expert navigator checkpoint:  As you make that turn The Big Fish restaurant and McDonalds
        will be on your immediate left.

        1.7 mi Make a sharp left hand turn s/p “Edwinstowe / B6034 / / Major Oak / Sherwood Forest
        Visitor Centre”.

        0.8 mi 53.2018, -1.0623 The Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre is on the right.


        The Major Oak is about a 10-15min walk from the Visitor Centre.

        There are a number of other walks in the Forest – get the pamphlet from the Visitor Centre.

        Sherwood Forest To York


        2.1 mi 53.2010, -1.0270 Make your way back to the r/bout (the one with the Big Fish Restaurant).


        Take the 1st exit from the r/bout on to Blyth Rd, the A614 s/p “Doncaster A614 / (A1(M)).

        Go through 1 r/bout until at

        6.7 mi 53.3872, -1.0642 take the 2nd exit from the r/bout on to the entry ramp to the A1.


        This is now route 3 on the map.

        36.0 mi 53.8447,-1.3430 at Junction 44, exit left on to the A64 for York. Look for the blue and
        white sign on a gantry “A64 / York / Leeds”.  Get into the left lane marked “A64” on the road
        surface.

        Follow signs to “York A64”.


        10.7 mi 53.9222,-1.1335  Take the exit following s/post “York (S & W) / A1036”.

        If you’d rather not take on the city traffic there’s the Askham Bar Park and Ride along here. If you
        plan to spend more than 4 hours in the city this is a good option.

        Follow the A1036 and s/posts to York and City Centre until at the first set of traffic lights at Queen
        St, turn l.


        Expert navigator check:  At that turn The Windmill tea rooms should be on your l.

        You will now follow Queen St as it curves to the right  to Station Rd and passes the railway station
        on your l.

        Pass underneath the ancient city wall and bear l. to remain on Station Rd.


        Cross the river on to Museum St.  York Minster is now dead ahead of you.

        Parking:  There are several car parks in the area around the railway station.

        Bootham Row is probably the easiest to find and the closest to the minster.
