“Stratford A429”.
Expert navigator checkpoint: The White Hart Royal Hotel will be on your l. as you make that
turn. King Charles 1 reputedly slept there in 1642.

STRATFORD UPON AVON
Taking the Cotswold Villages option . . .
51.9577,-1.6087 turn l. on to the A436 s/p “Stow A436 / Oddington 3” and “Chastleton House”
1.2 mi 51.9472,-1.6235 Turn l. for Chaselton House.

“Bourton-on-the-Water”.
Fancy a bit of posh nosh? The Porch House in Stow claims (like a number of others) to be the
oldest pub in England, but, it must be said, while retaining that olde worlde feel it is thoroughly
modern. Also has accommodation.
3.6 mi 51.8871,-1.7684 l. on to Landsdowne for Bourton-On-The-Water
When you have had your fill of Bourton-on-the-Water make your way back to the A429 and turn
right for Stow-on-the-Wold.
1.2 mi 51.8995,-1.7504 Turn r. on to Copeshill Rd to visit Lower Slaughter.
There is a short walk from Lower Slaughter to Upper Slaughter alongside the river and then up
and over the fields. The walk is just under one mile and is most enjoyable on a fine
day. Alternatively, it is possible to drive from one village to the other.
In Upper Slaughter, if you fancy dining in a Michelin starred hotel, try Lords of the Manor . . . but
cheap-as-chips it ain’t.
When you are ready, make your way back to the A429 and turn left.
