Fishmarket Rd, the A259. At that turn Skinners Garage is straight in front of you.

As you sweep around South Undercliff (A259) the town centre is over to your right. The Rye
Heritage Centre will be on your r. at this point. There’s parking in a side street. The famous
Mermaid Inn is up Mermaid St to your r.

Navigation is fairly simple on this part of your journey . . . you follow the A259 and A27 to
your destination in Brighton.
It’s a trip of about 50 miles, about 1 hr 40min.
There are, however, a number of side trips and attractions along the way that may catch your
interest. In particular the scene of the Battle of Hastings in 1066, the last time England was
successfully invaded. And there’s Beachy Head, the highest point on the famous White Cliffs of
Dover.
