From here on follow signs to Lewes and the A270.

        At the r/bout on the A27 take the 3rd  exit. on to Alfriston Rd if you wish to visit the English Wine
        Centre, Alfriston and / or Drusillas.

        In Wilmington, turn r. s/p “Lullington /   Long Man”.  Pass through the quaint little village of
        Wilmington and just past the village (be careful on the one-way bridge) you will see the giant
        figure of the Wilmington Long Man on the hill to your left. There’s a carpark on the r. and you get a
        good view from there.  If you walk a short way past the carpark, there’s a walking track up to the
        figure itself.

        Side Trip to Beachy Head


        If you wish to visit Beachy Head take the right hand fork at that intersection on to Eastbourne Rd,
        the A2270, s/posted “Polegate / Wannock / Jevington / Willingdon”

        0.2 mi turn r. on to Warnock Rd. Go through the village of Jevington and in the village of Friston,
        at the Y intersection turn l. on to Seaford Rd, the A259, s/posted “Birling Gap 1 1/4 / Beachy Head
        4 / Seven Sister Sheep Centre 1/2”


        1.7 mi turn r.  on to Warren Hill, the B2103, s/p “Seaford / Beachy head”.  0.9mi bear r. on to
        Beachy Head Rd s/p “Beachy Head / Countryside Castle”.  1.8mi you are at Beachy Head.

        As you approach Beachy Head you’ll see a lighthouse high on the hill to your r. There’s a car park
        there called, very aptly, “Cliff Edge Carpark”.  Don’t go too near the cliff edge.  From there you can
        walk up to the lighthouse.

        Around the whole area there are walks and viewing points.


        To continue towards Rye, stay on the road that brought you in here – Beachy Head Rd.
