If you go around the r/bout and take the second street on the left, there is a smaller car park that is
closer to The Mermaid Inn.
Rye to Canterbury via Ashford

This is a quick trip from Rye through Ashford to Canterbury. 34 mi, about an hour.
Instead of taking the recommended route through Dover, Folkestone and Hythe, you can take a
short cut across country through Ashford on the A28 and A2070. Not as interesting as the
recommended way, just quicker.

Navigation Instructions
Route 2 on the map.
Starting at South Underhill at the foot of the town, follow it around on to Fishmarket Rd and
Skinners Roundabout.
0.0 mi 50.9530, 0.7363 At Skinner’s Roundabout take the 2nd exit on to New Rd, the A259.s/p
“Folkestone / Dover / A259”. At that turn Skinners Garage is to your left.
7.6 mi 51.0072, 0.8580 At Brenzett Roundabout take the 2nd exit on to the A2070. It’s a bit
confusing . . . just follow signs that say Hastings and or A2070. From there on follow signs like
that. Some of them will also say “Hamstreet”.
9.0 mi 51.1241, 0.8785 At Park Farm Roundabout take the 3rd exit to remain on the A2070 s/p
“Willesborough A2070 / Canterbury (A20)”.
You will then go around in a big left hand loop on to Bad Munstereifel Rd (yes – that really is it’s
name) to remain on the A2070.
