                                             Donna’s Pumpkin Cake

                                                    1/2 cup shortening


                                                    1 cup brown sugar

                                                       1/2 cup sugar

                                                           1 egg

                                           3/4 cup cooked or canned pumpkin

                                                        2 cups flour

                                                3 teaspoons baking powder

                                   1/2 teaspoon each: cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt

                                                   2/3 cup chopped nuts

                                                    1/2 teaspoon soda


                                                     1/2 cup sour milk



                               1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

                               2.  Cream shortening and sugars together.

                               3.  Beat egg and add to the pumpkin.

                               4.  Mix pumpkin mixture together with creamed sugar and

                                  shortening mixture.

                               5.  Sift flour, baking powder, spices, and salt.

                               6.  Mix nuts into flour mixture.

                               7.  Add soda to sour milk and add to creamed mixture.

                               8.  Add flour mixture to creamed mixture.

                               9.  Bake in a greased, floured loaf pan in the oven for 45

                                  minutes.
