Will They Come? Field of Dreams
If you were born and raised in the Midwest like I was,
                                                   there's a solid chance you're a baseball fan. For
generations, my family listened to and watched baseball.
Though, you don't need to be Midwesterner to appreciate
the game. Our very own Ken Schreiber, President HUB
NOE, has been a baseball fan for as long as he could
remember. "I've always been a Yankee fan…. My dad
introduced me to baseball by taking me to Yankee and
Mets games when I was very young."
While I grew up always 'root, root, rooting for the Cubbies,'
I also grew up watching classic '80s movies. Combine
sports, entertainment, and James Earl Jones; you get a
great film. When I heard the MLB planned to play a game
in Dyersville, Iowa, my heart grew happy. Dyerville, Iowa?
Yes, the small town we were introduced to in 1989 when
Ken with his brothers & dad
                                                   Field of Dreams was released.
On August 13, the Chicago White Sox are scheduled to play the St. Louis Cardinals (originally The
Yankees). The schedule change caused by the new coronavirus pandemic meant the White Sox
no longer play the Yankees this season. Though, it's uncertain if the game will happen due to the
shortened season caused by the pandemic. Ken, an Entertainment/Sports expert (11 years in the
sports industry, insuring professional teams, leagues, and venues), pointed out the MLB has had
such a tough time coming to terms with the Player's Association on whether they'll even have a
season. There's also the issue of many MLB players recently getting a positive diagnosis for
COVID-19. "I'd say there's a slight chance of this game happening on
August 13." Regardless, the construction of building an MLB standard-
field beyond the northern perimeter of the movie field is still on.
"It would be cool to see this game come together, as it's unique, a nice
twist on our national pastime, which is in need of some freshening up,"
Ken said. Whether or not this game is going to be played, I highly
           recommend you watch the movie.
*Field of Dreams, the big-screen adaption of the W.P. Kinsella novel
Shoeless Joe, was released to acclaim in 1989 with a cast that included
stars Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta, James Earl Jones, and Amy Madigan.
It has remained popular with baseball and movie fans alike, and a field
has been left intact at the production site, allowing it to become a
sought-out tourist destination.* Amy @ Wrigley Field
