Getting to Know You; Getting to Know All About You

Gigi Acevedo-Parker has been in Healthcare for over 30 years, first as a direct care
registered nurse clinician, a generalist in medical/surgical Healthcare. She later gained an
additional specialty as a clinical nurse specialist in mental health. As she moved through
Healthcare, moving into executive-level leadership in hospitals and other types of ambulatory
care agencies, she developed a passion for Quality, Risk, and Safety in the healthcare setting.
She learned all she could in those settings about risk mitigation in clinical Healthcare. She
translated that knowledge and passion for patient safety when she moved out of the clinical
settings, becoming a national clinical risk consultant, educator, risk manager in insurance,
healthcare regulatory surveyor,. and lecturer on Patient Safety Science/Risk Management.
She has provided clinical risk consulting in 45 states thus far for various types of healthcare
clients, including hospitals, senior care, long term acute hospitals, and various types of
mental health organizations.
And, in the midst of all this, she is a doctorate candidate, so she’s looking
to finish that in this lifetime too!!
