FOREWORD

Strategic planning is indispensable for any organisation. In light of changing
expectations of society, evolving professional and industry demands,
as well as increasing competition in the local and global contexts, it is
particularly important that the higher education sector has a proactive
and all-inclusive approach in addressing these situations. Universiti Utara
Malaysia (UUM) has taken commendable measures in developing an all
important strategic planning blueprint to realise its vision and mission of
becoming an Eminent Management University.

From the onset, UUM has been resolute in its stand to promote
management education in the country and render its expertise to help
in developing and sustaining many of the socio-economic activities in
the region. This mandated objective is presently translated into UUM’s
Strategic Plan Phase III (2021-2025), with the emphasis on ‘Becoming an
Eminent Management University’ through Quintuple Helix Innovation. This
strategic goal further reaffirms the University’s commitment to achieving 9
excellence through its core business of knowledge enhancement and
dissemination for the benefit of the community at large.

The Strategic Plan Phase III (2021-2025) is particularly important in the
present context of uncertainties of the dynamic world. The Plan clearly
identifies the university’s full potential to better fulfil its mission. However,
in realising this noble aim, it is important that every UUM denizen works
in concert to materialise this all comprehensive Strategic Plan. Hence, I
would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the importance of collective
determination of all UUM denizens to uphold this aspiration towards
accomplishing the University’s agenda.

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the UUM Board
of Directors, University Executives, academics, administrative staff and
industry partners, whose invaluable input has been incorporated in this
blueprint. I fervently hope that this Strategic Plan Phase III (2021-2025)
will be executed accordingly and resourcefully.
