FOREWORD

All praise and thanks be to Allah SWT for His bounty, the third phase
of the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) strategic plan is produced. The
process of developing this strategic plan was not easy and took almost
two years to complete. It involved many stakeholders, such as the Board
of Directors, all levels of employees and departments, the industry,
students and alumni in providing their input during the process of drafting
and finalizing the strategic plan.

This is a comprehensive strategic plan that covers all aspects of a global
university from the academic, research and service excellence perspectives.
It ranges from nurturing holistic graduates to the sustainability of finance,
as well as community and industrial engagement. It has also taken into
account the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025, Global Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), and the national and international ratings
and ranking agenda. The strategic plan framework of the University is
12 based on the foundation of the quality management system and aims
to achieve the “Eminent Management University” vision through the
quintuple helix cooperation between the University and the private sector,
the government, the community and the environment.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the
Board of Directors, the University management team, and all stakeholders
involved in the development of this strategic plan. Special thanks go to the
Corporate Planning Division team at Institute of Quality Management that
has worked tirelessly as secretariat of this strategic plan. So God willing,
let us make this strategic plan a reality together.
